Commercial and Residential Building Moves

Here at Eastman Building Movers, we work with homeowners in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut to move their residential structures, and we know people may have questions about the differences between commercial and residential structural moving. While the basic procedure is used for both types, the size of the commercial buildings can call for extra preparation and different types of equipment. Whether you need to move a barn, a commercial building, or a small or large home, Eastman Building Movers has experience moving a variety of buildings from beach homes that need to get away from the shore, to three story historical homes.

All moves begin with supporting and lifting...which needs to be done before the structure goes anywhere. Every precaution is taken to gauge weight, position equipment, and properly move your structure from one location to another to ensure the structural integrity of the building.

Residential properties are generally moved to be placed where there is a better view, to prevent flooding, or due to eminent domain if a municipal building project is started. Commercial buildings can be moved for these reasons, or because an area was re-zoned.

Commercial properties can be large historical homes, churches, restaurants, schools, industrial buildings, and hospitals. These larger structures often require the use of a crane, whereas a residential move would not require the use of such heavy equipment. Cranes allow for secure hoisting to move the building for transport...and safety is the number priority for all moves. In addition, commercial building moves can take more time than residential house moving due to the size and weight of the structure.
