Lifting Buildings With Foundation Damage
Back in June, we talked about Foundation Damage on our blog. One of the services that we provide beyond building moving is to lift structures so that any damaged areas of foundations can be repaired. As we’ve said before, if your home is not on a firm, sound foundation problems can get out of control.
In this blog we also talked about the problems that some Connecticut homeowners had with failing foundations due to issues with the concrete that was used when the homes were built. We have recently learned some new information about these issues and the steps that the State of Connecticut are taking to help these distressed homeowners.
Scheduled to launch in December (after being delayed) this $133 million fund has the goal of helping homeowners pay for replacing their foundations. The fund is made up of money that was raised through bonds and also a $12 surcharge on homeowners insurance policies in the state. It will reimburse homeowners for work they have already done on their homes and also will help pay for a portion of the costs to replace their foundations if needed. Insurance companies have refused to pay for these costs and claims and with an average cost of $185,000 to replace a foundation, this fund will be a relief for some affected homeowners.
As always, we remind our Connecticut neighbors (especially in North Central Connecticut towns of Enfield, Manchester, Putnam, Tolland, Plainfield, East Hartford and Windham) that Eastman Building Movers not only works in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
